Saints fans plead the case for Celtic Ultras

FCU took to social media to request that St Johnstone reconsider their approach to dealing with their contemporaries at Bhoys Celtic & the Green Brigade.

“Following the pre-match operation meeting today, we have been notified that restrictions have been put in place against the active fan groups of Celtic FC, therefore we ask that St Johnstone FC reconsider their decision.

“With Celtic FC accommodating this season for the active support groups within St Johnstone FC to attend matches at Celtic Park with banners, flags and drums permitted.

“Embrace fan culture”

We ask St Johnstone FC that the agreement is reciprocated and the active support groups of Celtic FC are granted the same permissions on Sunday.

“FCU remain unwavering in their stance for St Johnstone FC to deny permission when hosting those clubs who refuse our support the opportunity to enhance the atmosphere both ‘vocally and visually’ at away fixtures.

“FCU request that all match day operation agreements are outlined prior to the start of next season by all clubs whom we share a division with.

“Embrace fan culture.”

There appears to have been a move towards regulating and limiting fan groups, which culminated in the events before the Glasgow Derby. There appears to be a middle ground available but that requires parties to sit down and engage with fan culture, even if they do not agree with certain aspects of it.

St Johnstone sensible decision to fill their stands for a football match

St Johnstone decided to make the sensible decision to sell three stands to Celtic supporters in an attempt to add additional revenue for next season. The Perth club will also have a trip to Hampden against Celtic, which acts as a free hit essentially, but boosts their coffers for next year.
