Tottenham Hotspur head coach Rehanne Skinner says that the club are aiming for a strong end to the season and there is no additional agenda to end Arsenal’s title hopes when the two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

The Gunners must record at least a draw against Spurs to take the title race into the final day of the season but Arsenal’s targets are not on the minds of Spurs or their head coach Skinner.

When speaking to the media ahead of the match, Skinner said that the focus is on Spurs collecting more points and finishing the season well.

“The biggest thing for us is that we want points out of games and we want to show how much we have improved over the course of the season,” Skinner said. “We want to make sure that we stick to the game plan and make it really difficult for them.

“What will be will be where the title race is concerned and all of that, we are just concerned with finishing as high as we can, getting as many points as we can out of these next two games.”

Spurs are already assured of a top half of the table finish in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Skinner went on to say how proud she is of her side’s achievements this year.

She said “I’m really proud of the squad and I’m delighted about the performances and the improvements that we have made this year. When I came here, we discussed the fact that it is a journey for us and there were things that we needed to put in place. It is a building process, it does take time to build top quality teams that compete at the top end of leagues.

“I think we have made some really positive progress on and off the pitch over the course of the season that has contributed to the performances and we know the next steps that we need to take and we are trying to get them ready for next year. We want to finish on a high and start again in a positive place.”

The North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 7.15pm.
