Under-fire Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou may have birthday boy James Maddison to thank later after Spurs have jumped to a 2-0 lead at the Etihad against struggling Man City.
On a night when City celebrated Ballon d'Or winner Rodri with a pre-match spectacle, it is Spurs who have stolen the party after a brace by Maddison on his 28th birthday.
His first goal on the night came in the 13th minute with Spurs' first touch in the City penalty area, before he completed his double goalscoring act seven minutes later.
Maddison has now already bettered his goal return from last season (4) and now sits on five league goals this term as Spurs remain on the hunt to climb back into Champions League contention.
