On Sunday evening, to conclude the weekend for Tottenham Hotspur loaneees, as Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, and KVC Westerlo were in Belgian Pro League action, with a home game against strugglers KV Kortrijk.
For this game, as per usual, both Vuskovic and Devine were named in the starting XI. Having played with a back three for much of the season, manager Timmy Simons went with a back four for the third game in a row.
The game itself could not have gone much better, as Westerlo ran out 4-0 winners in a dominant display – with a clean sheet for Vuskovic, and a brace for Devine. The perfect evening both collectively and individually.
Both of Devine’s goals were from inside the box, taking up excellent positions to get on the scoresheet. Interestingly, both of his goals were with his left foot, despite the midfielder being right footed. These goals were the fifth and sixth goals of his senior career, with his first being for Spurs against Marine in the FA Cup, all the way back in January of 2021. Crazy to think he is still only 20.
As for Vuskovic, it was another solid game at the heart of the Westerlo defence for him, as he bounced back from the heartbreak suffered on international duty. The defender recorded; two clearances, 59 touches, 7/5 aerial duels won, one foul drawn, and two shots – as he tried to add to his impressive goal tally.
Recently, there was reportedly an agreement from both clubs, to pave the way for future business between the sides, owing to the development and game time of both players so far. Spurs get a lot of loans wrong, but they really hit the jackpot here, with both players. There has even been talk of the Belgian outfit dreaming of being able to bring Lucas Bergvall in on loan.
In terms of Westerlo, this win has left them in 7th place in the Belgian Pro League, with 21 points from five games. Their goal difference was 0 before the game, so this is a nice boost to that too.
Next up for Vuskovic, Devine, and their Westerlo counterparts is a home game against Gent, who sit one place and one point above them in the league. The game is on Sunday, and is another 18:15 GMT kick off. Westerlo can go up to fifth should they win the game.
