Spurs loan watch: European round up | OneFootball

There was European football for three Spurs loanees over the weekend, for their final games before the international break – with Luka Vuskovic and Alfie Devine in action for KVS Westerlo, whilst Bryan Gil was in action for Girona. There was no game for Alejo Veliz and RCD Espanyol, with their game against Valencia being postponed due to the recent fatal floods in Valencia.

On Saturday evening, both Devine and Vuskovic were named in the Westerlo starting eleven for their game on the road against RC Sporting Charleroi. Unfortunately, this is one of the less eventful updates, with Westerlo being condemned to a 1-0 defeat.

Both Spurs loanees played the 90 minutes, but were not able to rescue a result for their side. Vuskovic recorded; five clearances, two blocked shots, 77 touches, 60/66 passes, 6/9 accurate long balls, 4/6 aerial duels won, and 1/1 successful dribble attempts.

This result leaves Westerlo in 8th place in the Belgian Pro League heading into the break, with 17 points from their 14 games so far this campaign. Next up is a home game against KV Kortrijk in the league, with that game being on the 24th of November, at 18:15 GMT.

As for Gil and Girona, it was a more fruitful afternoon for their trip to Getafe. They would come away with a hard fought 1-0 victory, with Gil assisting Yangel Herrera for the only goal of the game, not long before half-time.

It was a pretty uneventful game, with just 11 shots in total, and only three for Girona themselves. In a game of very fine margins, Gil’s assist was enough to help his side to three points on the road. The on loan Spurs man played on the right hand side for this game, playing 89 minutes of the game. As well as the assist, he had 51 touches, 27/30 passes, six ground duels won, two fouls drawn, and two tackles.

This victory leaves Girona in 10th place in La Liga, with 18 points from their 13 games so far. Considering how asset stripped they were in the summer, they are giving it a pretty fair go. Next up is a home game against Veliz and Espanyol on the 23rd of November, with kick off being 17:30 for that one.
