Recently hailed as the ‘best defender in the world’ by compatriot Lionel Messi, this isn’t the kind of performance the Argentine superstar was referencing.

The former Atalanta man opened the scoring for Arsenal with an unfortunate own goal as he sliced a Bukayo Saka strike into his own net.

After half-time, things got even worse when he gave away a penalty as a wayward arm in the area denied Ben White a goal.
