Tottenham Hotspur defender Kerys Harrop has signed a new one-year deal with the option of a further year according to reports on the club’s official website.

The 31-year-old centre-back has spent the last two seasons with The Lilywhites and she has made a big contribution towards Spurs’ rapid growth in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Harrop has made 33 Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances over her two seasons with Spurs, scoring two goals. The defender has helped Spurs to record six clean sheets in her 19 league outings this season.

After signing on again with the North Londoners, Harrop said “I’m excited. There’s a fantastic group of girls here – we’ve got a really good team spirit and culture. The club is going in the right direction and it’s a direction that matches my own values.

“You can see how much the club as a whole is investing in the women’s team, it’s fantastic really.

“It’s amazing to see how far the game has come in the last ten years. We want to keep challenging with the top teams and hopefully, one day we will achieve a Champions League spot.”

Harrop has joined Kit Graham, Ashleigh Neville, Shelina Zadorsky and Becky Spencer in signing new terms with Spurs this summer. Head coach Rehanne Skinner also extended her contract last month.
