Spurs signed the Swedish international defender on loan from Italian club Juventus in the January transfer window.
When speaking to the media in an official club press conference, Spurs boss Vilahamn discussed his reasons for bringing Nildén to North London whilst expressing his enjoyment at working with the player.
“I followed her for a few years because I had a left-back at Häcken that competed against her for the national team,” Vilahamn said. “The national team coach always picked her instead of my left-back at Häcken but now, I’ve signed her.
“I love working with Amanda because she’s very good on the ball and very skilful in many scenarios. She’s still young and there’s more potential in her. She gives us a left foot in the build-up which we didn’t previously have. I like to have those angles with a left-footed left-back.
“She’s taking steps forward in her attacking game. We know she is good defensively but I know she can do overlaps and put in crosses as well. She showed calmness in the penalty shootout [against Manchester City] too. I like to work with players that have passion and coolness.
“I love working with her and there’s a plan for her to stay in the future, so hopefully, we do that.”
Spurs do have an option to convert Nildén’s loan into a permanent deal. Going on to expand on the player’s long-term future, Vilahamn said that he is confident that she will be a member of his squad for 2024/2025.
He said “We didn’t go for loan players in the winter transfer window without having a smart plan of how we can execute that. I am quite sure that she is going to stay for next season.”
Nildén and Spurs are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they face Leicester City at the Gaughan Group Stadium.
