Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race to sign Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, with club officials growing increasingly confident of securing a deal for the highly-rated 19-year-old. According to TalkSport, Spurs believe they are in pole position to land the winger despite growing interest from across Europe.
With Southampton’s relegation all but confirmed, the club is under pressure to cash in on assets, and Dibling—who has impressed in the Premier League despite his side’s struggles—could be one of the first to depart.
Dibling’s four goals and two assists in 28 appearances do not fully reflect the impact he has had this season. The teenager has shown flashes of brilliance, troubling top-flight defenders with his pace, directness and ability to take players on. His performances against Liverpool and Manchester United have drawn attention, with reputed journalist Florian Plettenberg claiming that “half of Europe” is watching the young forward closely.

With his contract expiring in 2025, Southampton will be eager to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next year, while Dibling himself is reportedly “unhappy” with his current contract offer. Spurs see an opportunity to strike now rather than risk a bidding war next summer.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is building a fast, attacking side, and Dibling’s ability to play on either flank makes him a valuable addition. With Son Heung-min’s long-term future uncertain, Tottenham could be looking for a successor to the South Korean star.

While Brennan Johnson has performed well this season, there is still a sense that he needs to be more influential in matches. With 14 goals and three assists in 35 games, he has shown his value, but there are concerns that he does not take on defenders as consistently as required.
Dibling’s arrival could provide:
Southampton initially valued Dibling at £50 million, but Tottenham believe that price will drop significantly given the club’s impending relegation and the winger’s contract situation. Daniel Levy is confident that Southampton will be forced to accept a reduced fee, particularly as they risk losing the player for much less next year.

However, competition remains fierce. With Newcastle, Aston Villa, and multiple European clubs monitoring the situation, Spurs will need to move decisively to seal a deal before the summer window fully opens.
While nothing is finalised, Tottenham’s confidence in securing Dibling signals a clear intent to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.
For Spurs fans, this potential signing is one to be genuinely excited about. While Dibling is not yet a household name, his performances for Southampton suggest he is a future star.
At 19, he has already shown the ability to excel against top opposition and is only going to improve. Tottenham have focused on younger, energetic signings under Postecoglou, and Dibling fits the bill perfectly.
The most exciting aspect of this move is that Dibling would arrive as a player for the present and future. He can compete for minutes immediately while also developing into a long-term replacement for Son Heung-min. His ability to play on either wing makes him a tactically valuable asset, offering Spurs greater flexibility.
For a club like Tottenham, beating rivals to a player of his calibre would be a statement. Newcastle and Aston Villa are on the rise, but securing Dibling now could be a smart, future-proof investment. If Spurs get this deal done at the right price, it could turn out to be one of the shrewdest moves of the summer window.
