Once again, Tottenham didn’t have it all their own way but triumphed at Shkëndija to set up a meeting with Maccabi Haifa next.
Erik Lamela’s early strike did give Spurs a half-time lead but the hosts levelled five minutes after the break when Valmir Nafiu found the net from range.
But Tottenham took control in the closing stages and a Heung-min Son goal before assisting for Harry Kane made things comfortable in the end.
Scorers: Calhanoglu 16′, 50′, Colombo 32; Junker 15′, Hauge 55′
Milan needed some Hakan Çalhanoglu inspiration to triumph in this one, with Gianluigi Donnarumma also called upon with several key side.
Kasper Junker gave the visitors a shock lead in this one but it lasted just one minute before Çalhanoglu levelled.
Zlatan Ibrahimović’s replacement Lorenzo Colombo then made the most of his big chance by firing the Rossoneri ahead at half-time.
Milan then got a taste of their own medicine when a superb Çalhanoglu volley put them two ahead, only for the visitors to swiftly score with an equally excellent goal, which proved to be in vain.
Scorers: Tavernier pen 22′, Kent 25′, Helander 55′, Goldson 72′
After surviving an early scare when the hosts hit the bar, James Tavernier’s 50th Rangers goal put the Scottish side ahead before Ryan Kent quickly doubled that advantage.
The centre-backs got in on the act after half-time when Filip Helander and Conor Goldson both netted to tee up a clash with Galatasaray.
Scorers: Elyounoussi 90′
A lacklustre Celtic side needed a last gasp goal from substitute Moi Elyounoussi to deliver a nervy win away to Riga.
The Hoops were subpar for the majority of the contest but will now face a tie against Sarajevo (who they beat last season) thanks to the Norwegian’s cool finish from a Jeremie Frimpong cross.
