Ange Postecoglou pointed to a ‘team contribution’ after our 2-1 win against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

It was certainly a performance with a bit of everything against one of the league’s in-form teams - some superb football in the first half as we forged ahead 2-0 inside 20 minutes, then a stout defensive display as Everton piled on the pressure in the second half, with Guglielmo Vicario at his best to tip over a Arnaut Danjuma’s deflected shot. All that with a defensive reshuffle at half-time with Eric Dier replacing Cuti Romero.

Speaking on our Review Show afterwards, Ange reflected: “It was a tough game for us. I thought we started the game really well and, as well as the goals, our football was good, but then we took a few liberties with the ball and allowed them to get back into the game.

“They’re a good side, they’ve been in good form, have a lot of confidence and made it hard for us. In the second half, we couldn’t really get a grip on the game. We allowed them to get some momentum and it’s hard when you allow the opposition to take over in that aspect.

“We had some decent moments on the counter-attack and didn’t make some great choices, that also keeps them in the game. They are a team that has been in outstanding form, they’re going to have that confidence and will stay in the game, and they did that. We had to do things a bit differently, but the pleasing thing is that we got it done.

“We had to show some resilience, some defending that we haven’t had to do for a lot of games, and Vic’s pulled off some great saves as well. It was a team contribution to an important three points.”
