Sporting set Gyökeres fee | OneFootball

Primeira Liga Sporting have informed interested parties - including Arsenal - that their free-scoring forward Viktor Gyökeres will command a transfer fee of €80m (£67m).

According to the Guardian, the reigning Portuguese champions are open to selling Gyökeres, who has been in exceptional form since his £20.5m arrival from Coventry in the summer of 2023. While Sporting are not demanding the full €100m figure in his release clause, they are adamant about securing a minimum of €80m.

The club’s vice-president, Francisco Zenha, stated in the Portuguese press that no formal proposals have been received for Gyökeres, who remains under contract for another three years.

Arsenal are preparing for an ambitious transfer window and are targeting a new central striker, with Gyökeres high on their shortlist. The club have also tracked RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško, while Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is considered unattainable.

Gyökeres, admired by clubs across Europe’s elite divisions, has thrived at Sporting, netting 97 goals in 102 appearances across all competitions. The 26-year-old Swedish international has played a key role in helping the team secure consecutive league titles and lift the Portuguese Cup in the most recent campaign.
