Southampton right-back Cédric Soares, currently on loan at Arsenal, began his career at Sporting Lisbon at age seven and remained there for 17 years until signing with the Saints five years ago in a €6.5m deal.

Now, the 28-year-old could be set to return to where it all began. According to reports out of Portugal, Sporting are interested in bringing back Cédric this summer.

The Euro 2016 champion’s contract expires this summer and Sporting are looking to bring back a plethora of former players in an attempt to go back to the ‘glory days’.

Sporting are also looking to see João Mário (Lokomotiv Moscow, on loan from Inter), as well as Islam Slimani and Adrien Silva (Monaco, on loan from Leicester), come back in hopes of winning their first Liga NOS title since 2002.

Though Cédric has not featured for Arsenal yet due to injury, it’s believed that the Gunners still prefer to sign him to a permanent deal in the upcoming transfer window.
