Viktor Gyokeres is keen to join one of Manchester City, Arsenal or Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, according to new reports from Portugal.
The 26-year-old is one of Europe’s most highly-rated centre forwards and is enjoying a brilliant season, having scored 39 times in 40 games across all competitions already, including six strikes in the UEFA Champions League alone.
Gyokeres earned huge plaudits after scoring a hat-trick in Sporting’s 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League’s league phase back in November – which proved to be the beginning of a 45-day losing streak for the Premier League champions.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with an interest in Viktor Gyokeres, who has three years left on his current deal with Sporting, perhaps largely due to the arrival of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach – the former boss at Estádio José Alvalade.
The Portuguese club will certainly not be short of offers for their most prised asset, who could look to capitalise on a stellar season in front of goal by seeking a move to the Premier League for the prime years of his top-level career.
Although Manchester City have added Omar Marmoush and Savinho to their attack since last summer, the Blues have looked short of goals at times and overly reliant on Erling Haaland in an uncharacteristically difficult season for the four-in-a-row Premier League champions.
Now, according to the information of Portuguese outlet A Bola, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Viktor Gyokeres is keen to join one of Manchester City, Liverpool or Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sporting will have a decision to move when formal approaches come in for Gyokeres at the end of the season and with over three years left on his deal, this could be the right time to cash in on the Sweden international and invest elsewhere in the squad.
Despite the presence of a €100 million release clause in Gyokeres’ contract, Sporting are reportedly willing to sell their star forward for €70 million – a figure that could prove to be a bargain for a striker who has his best years ahead of him.
