Nilson Angulo has had a fantastic start to the campaign with Anderlecht. The young Ecuadorian winger, who is likely going to be featuring at the World Cup next summer, has scored twice and grabbed three assists in just eight games this season. As a result, clubs have been interested, but recently Angulo said he would prefer to stay in Belgiu. However, that may now change. Rudy Galetti has revealed that Portuguese club Sporting CP have engaged in talks with Anderlecht over bringing the 22-year-old Angulo to Portugal. Sporting CP recently missed out on the signing of Yeremay from Deportivo so are looking for an alternative.
while Anderlecht are also keen to keep Angulo, that may change if the side fail to overcome AEK Athens in Conference League qualification. After a 1-1 draw in Brussels, the side travel to Greece tonight for the return leg. Missing out on European football will mean they need to bring the financial benefits into the club via player sales. Even with a positive result in Europe, if Sporting CP submit an offer that is too good to turn down, Anderlecht will likely allow Angulo to move to Lisbon.
Anderlecht and Sporting CP are no strangers to each other, with Zeno Debast having moved from Brussels to Lisbon in the past season.
