The Saudi Pro League (SPL) held on Sunday, September 29, an extraordinary General Assembly meeting chaired by Eng. Abdulaziz Al Afaleq, Chairman of the board, and attended by SPL board members, CEO Omar Mugharbel and representatives of the General Assembly as well as 14 members. Representatives from Al Nassr, Al Shabab and Al Khaleej were absent, while Al Ittihad apologised for their inability to attend.

The meeting centred around one main item, where members discussed the future of the board. They voted unanimously for the reappointment of the incumbent board headed by Eng. Al Afaleq as Chairman, Saad Al Lazeez as Vice Chairman, and Lamia bint Bahian, Peter Hutton and Adel Malawi as board members.

The unanimous vote reflects the positive results achieved by the SPL board and executive team. The General Assembly members also agreed to support stability and continuity of ongoing work to implement the SPL Transformation Strategy.

Chairman Al Afaleq expressed his appreciation for the Kingdom's wise leadership for its continuous support of the SPL, reflecting its efforts in developing the Saudi sports sector towards unlimited success. The Chairman also extended his gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sport, for his unwavering support, which has resulted in significant progress and prosperity in the Saudi sports industry.

Al Afaleq thanked members of the General Assembly for their trust in reappointing the board for four more years, stressing the SPL's work towards achieving its strategic objectives. He reiterated the SPL’s constant desire for continued collaboration with the clubs to implement the various strategy pillars aimed at developing technical, organisational and commercial aspects of the league, with the objective of placing the SPL among the top global domestic competitions.
