Spezia are making a surprise move for Arsenal defender Pablo Mari.

Mari spent the second-half of last season with Udinese, though they have decided against pursuing a permanent deal.

The Spaniard is available from Arsenal and La Gazzetta dello Sport says Spezia have expressed interest.

The Serie A minnows are open to discussing a cash fee for a permanent deal for Mari.

Hellas Verona, where former Udinese coach Gabriele Cioffi is in charge, are also keen.
