Spain playmaker Dani Olmo has more direct goal contributions than anyone else at Euro 2024, scoring thrice and assisting twice. He also has a relatively affordable €60m release clause at RB Leipzig, but there is a deadline for it.
Chelsea were recently linked to Olmo, but most reports deny the Blues will make a move for him. Meanwhile Bayern Munich and Liverpool are credited with interest, although he is not considered a priority by either, in spite of his performances at Euro 2024. Even Olmo has said publicly that ‘you all know what’s in my contract’, and it has been noted that his release clause expires on the 15th of July, just a day after Spain play in the final against England.
Olmo is no doubt focused on winning with Spain, and will not want to be distracted by a move, but Fabrizio Romano has revealed an important detail in his contract that was not previously known. The Italian transfer insider says that there was also a clause inserted that means if Spain made it to the Euro 2024 final, then the release clause would remain valid for five more days until the 20th of July. It gives suitors a little more time to operate, but if, as is being reported, he is not a priority for Liverpool, Bayern, or even Barcelona, then it may not matter.
