“Speaking with the club” – Former Chelsea player reveals club’s pending transfer plans | OneFootball

One former Chelsea player claims he has been speaking to the club recently and as a result, knows what they are planning for the transfer windows.

One window is open right now of course, with the winter window opening up today as we head into 2025.

We have kept hearing that Chelsea wont be busy in January, but there is always a thought that something surprising could happen. And maybe that is going to be Christopher Nkunku leaving? Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on that today and suggests that if the player asks to leave then Chelsea would sanction it and look to replace him. So something could most certainly happen there.

But former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, who was actually spotted with the owners recently at a Chelsea game, claims he has an idea of what the club will be doing in the summer and winter windows. He does not foresee much action in the January window this month, but as for the summer, that could be a different story…

Speaking on his latest Podcast in words cited by PYS on X, Mikel said:

“Speaking with the club, I think they know exactly what they want to do, the players they want to sign and the players they want to get out.

“In the summer, I think we might see a striker, goalkeeper, maybe another midfielder and defender. In January; I think we’re quiet.”

It’s great to hear that the club are thinking about a new goalkeeper as well. And it is pretty much the core of the team that Mikel believes they are looking at signing in for the summer. Let’s see what happens there, but they really need to get this right, and it is a new core that is needed.
