Gini Wijnaldum’s agent, Humphry Nijman, has implored Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to contact them if they are keen on a deal for the Liverpool midfielder.

Nijman says Wijnaldum is currently keeping all of his options open as he prepares for free agency this summer, with his contract at Liverpool expiring at the end of June.

The Dutchman’s agent has urged Bayern to get in touch with them to discuss a deal if they are interested, claiming that the Grman side are a ‘great club’.

Speaking to Sport1, as transcribed by TeamTalk, Nijman responded to the possibility of a transfer to Bayern for his client. “Wijnaldum is a free transfer and keeps all options open.

“FC Bayern is a great club. If you are interested in him, please feel free to speak to us.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It is interesting that Nijman states ‘Wijnaldum is a free transfer’ as that seemingly rules out the possibility of signing a contract extension with Liverpool. Wijnaldum is still under contract at the club until the end of June, which means that Liverpool still have time to attempt to extend his deal if they want him to remain at Anfield, but these comments from his agent appear to be ruling that out.

Despite being in the final year of his contract at the club, Wijnaldum has remained a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side. He has made 46 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, featuring in all 33 of their Premier League matches so far. This shows the level of consistency and quality he provides for Liverpool, which is why losing him on a free transfer could be a huge blow this summer and why clubs like Bayern Munich may be interested in snapping him up.
