Tobias Lauritsen, pictured,. and Mike Eerdhuijzen are fit enough to take action for Sparta Rotterdam on Thursday, in the first game against FC Twente in the battle for a European ticket.

Lauritsen, 25, and Eerdhuijzen, 22, were injured against FC Utrecht in the semi-finals of the play-offs last Sunday. It was feared that the striker and the defender would not make it to Twente, but the damage turned out to be not too bad with both players set to feature in Thursday night’s match.

Both teams will be keen to secure a spot in the European competition next season and will be more significant for Sparta who have been absent from a UEFA competition in recent decades.

They previously competed in the invitational Intertoto Cup back in 1999 but have not qualified for a European competition since the UEFA Cup in 1985/86 season losing to German side Hamburg.

It will, however, be tough for the hosts as they look to find their first win against Twente in their last six meetings having last beat them in December 2020 but have not won at home against their opponents since December 2019.
