For the first time in their young Bundesliga history, RB Leipzig have failed to qualify for European competition for the following season. This outcome will be the reason for key players to leave the club.

There are already transfers rumours surrounding their biggest stars: Xavi Simons, Benjamin Šeško and Castello Lukeba are all linked with other European top clubs.

That's why RB Leipzig are looking ahead to the upcoming transfer period - and they have reportedly (Relevo) set their sights on a prominent Spanish talent from La Liga: Valencia's centre back Cristhian Mosquera.

The 20-year-old has been a key player for Valencia in the last two seasons and has already played 89 games for the first team. His current contract runs until June 2026 and he has declined a contract extension in order to take the next step in his career.

Mosquera has won the Olympics with Spain in the summer of 2024 and gained many admirers in the process; with a market value of €30 million, Mosquera is one of the most valuable U21 defenders in the world.

Valencia, who are struggling financially, are reportedly looking for a transfer fee of €20 to €30 million for the talented defender. Leipzig are known to spend high sums for players they are convinced of:

In 2021, Leipzig paid Dinamo Zagreb €36.8 million for the services of Joško Gvardiol, whom they later on sold to Manchester City for €90 million.

Leipzig also paid €30 million to Lyon for Castello Lukeba in 2023 - let's see if they will again invest in a promising defender this summer.
