Fresh reports out of Spanish media have hinted at Barcelona being Erling Haaland’s landing spot in the coming years, despite successive links to Real Madrid.

The Norwegian is currently under contract at Manchester City until the summer of 2027, and has set the world alight since first landing at the Etihad from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for £52 million in the summer of 2022.

Since making the blockbuster move, Haaland has racked up a staggering total of 81 goals in 87 games for the reigning Premier League champions, breaking the record for goals in a single campaign in 2022/23 along the way.

The former RB Salzburg man played a key role Pep Guardiola’s side ending the campaign having added the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League to their ever-growing trophy cabinet.

But ever since signing with the Etihad club, Erling Haaland has been the subject of rumours linking him with a big-money move to one of the Spanish giants, Barcelona or Real Madrid, in the coming years.

Most recently, Spanish football insider Jota Jordi claimed that ‘all roads’ lead to Erling Haaland joining Barcelona in 2026.

“With everything they have told me, I dare say that Haaland is going to play for Barça in a year and a half. All roads are leading him to the new stadium,”  he said as translated and relayed by Sport Witness.

Numerous reports have claimed that the striker has a release clause of more than €100 million set to become active in the coming transfer windows, and it was a similar clause that allowed Manchester City to swoop in for the rising superstar in 2022.

Back on the pitch, the 23-year-old has not hit the same record-breaking heights in the current campaign as he did in the previous, but Haaland still leads the Premier League Golden Boot race with 18.

Manchester City square off with current Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in a crucial tussle in the title race. Heading into the clash at the Etihad Stadium, the Gunners have a slender one-point lead over City with just 10 games remaining in the campaign.
