Hours after confirming the departure of Marcin Kaczmarek, Lechia Gdańsk moved to appoint Spanish coach David Badia Cequier as their new coach. The 48-year-old will take charge of his first training session on Wednesday, before officially being presented to the media on Thursday.

Badia’s coaching career has taken his through the ranks, firstly as a youth coach at hometown club Barcelona, before moving to become an assistant at Turkish clubs Antalyaspor and Fenerbahce, and then back in his homeland with Almeria. In these positions he worked under famous names such as Philip Cocu, Erwin Koeman and Guti.
