A remarkable statistic, highlighting the recent success of the famed La Masia academy at La Liga giants Barcelona, has come to the fore on Saturday.

As much comes fresh off another special evening for a player to have made his way through the youth ranks of the Catalan giants.

In the midst of nothing short of an explosion onto the world stage over the last couple of months, Pau Cubarsí was of course afforded a first-ever call-up to the Spanish senior squad this week.

And it did not take the prodigious stopper at all long to force his way onto the pitch in La Roja’s colours, either.

En route to the country’s 1-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Colombia on Friday night, Cubarsí was introduced off the bench for Aymeric Laporte late at the London Stadium.

As much saw the Barcelona man take his place as the youngest-ever defender to feature for the Spanish national team, breaking a record previously held by Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos.

Not only that, but it saw Cubarsí move into 2nd on the all-time list, behind only teammate and close friend Lamine Yamal.

Remarkably, this means that all three of the youngest players to have featured for Spain in the country’s storied international history have come from Barca’s La Masia production line, in the space of the last three years.
