Due to current infection rates, Eintracht Women’s training camp has been called off. Instead, they will take on VfL Wolfsburg in a friendly.

The week-long training camp near Valencia, which would have included two friendly matches, was due to start this coming Saturday. After careful consideration, however, Eintracht officials have decided to call off the trip due to the sharp rise in coronavirus infections.

“It’s a great shame, but due to the intensifying situation regarding the pandemic and the risks involved, it makes absolute sense to cancel our training camp in a high-risk area of Spain,” said sporting director Siegfried Dietrich. “Our responsibility for the health of our players and staff was key to our decision.”

Eintracht Women will instead face VfL Wolfsburg in another friendly on Sunday 23 January. The game against the Eagles’ Bundesliga rivals will be held in Wolfsburg at 13:00 CET.
