Scorers: Gavi 18′, Merino 33′, Joselu 70′, Torres 73′, 83′, Baena 77′

Spain produced another high-scoring rout as they trounced Cyprus in a six-goal showcase.

Gavi broke the deadlock for La Roja by meeting Nico Williams’ first-time cross at the byline with a clinical volley.

Luis de la Fuente’s side doubled their tally from another Williams delivery which was met by Mikel Merino’s header.

The Nations League holders continued to pile on the pressure in the second half with a further three goals in seven minutes.

Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal and Joselu combined as the latter sent his header looping into Joël Mall’s net.

Carvajal proved integral again to tee up Ferran Torres as his Barcelona counterpart arrived in the box for a first-time finish .

Álex Baena slid home a fifth as the game entered its closing stages before Torres completed his brace from a ball over the top by Rodri.

Italy come through Ukraine test

Scorers: Frattesi 13′, 30′; Yarmolenko 41′

Italy had to weather a storm against Ukraine to keep the pressure on qualifying Group C leaders England.

Luciano Spalletti’s side took an early lead when Mattia Zaccagni hared down possession and teed up Davide Frattesi who drilled home from close range.

Inter’s loanee midfielder doubled his tally on the half-hour mark as the ball broke fortuitously for him in the visitors’ area for a bundled finish.

But the hosts saw their advantage halved when Andriy Yarmolenko tapped into an empty net after a mishap from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Azzurri kept things tight after the interval to move to within six points of England, who have played a game more.

Belgium take Group F top spot with Estonia glut

Scorers: Vertonghen 4′, Trossard 18′, Lukaku 57′, 58′

Belgium took Group F’s top spot with a four-goal dismantling of Estonia.

Jan Vertonghen put Belgium ahead on his record-breaking 150th outing with a header from Yannick Carrasco’s corner in the fourth minute.

Domenico Tedesco’s side extended their advantage less than a quarter of an hour later courtesy of Leandro Trossard’s superb individual effort.

Early in the second half Romelu Lukaku ramped up the Red Devils’ ascendancy with a quickfire double, first sweeping home from Orel Mangala’s through ball.

The Roma loanee added a fourth barely a minute later as Arthur Theate picked him out on the edge of the area for an exquisite turn and shot.
