Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has given an update on players concerning Real Madrid in an interview with Onda Cero.
With the new season only just beginning, De la Fuente is not expected to make sweeping changes to his squad for the international matches in September, but two names from Los Blancos have already drawn attention, namely Dani Carvajal and young forward Gonzalo Garcia.
Carvajal has returned to full fitness after recovering from a long-term knee injury. A key part of Spain’s setup under De la Fuente, the veteran right-back is now pushing for a return to the national team.
When asked about him, the coach stressed the importance of patience: “Let them [Carvajal and Rodri] take it easy; the important thing is to be calm and confident. What I want is for them to be available for the World Cup.”

The spotlight has also fallen on Gonzalo Garcia, Real Madrid’s breakout forward. His standout performances in the FIFA Club World Cup, where he scored crucial goals, have made him one of the most talked-about young players in Spain.
De la Fuente admitted that his name has entered the selection debate but urged caution. “Anyone who doesn’t want to understand it is because they are not interested.
“It’s very good news for Spanish football, but these young players have to work very hard because there is a very good national team that is not easy to knock off.
“It has to be an incentive for him to know that he is on our radar.”
The coach’s earlier remark that Gonzalo still had to “do some military service” sparked plenty of reactions, but his latest comments underline that the forward is very much in Spain’s plans for the future.
