Spain have announced their final 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup.
La Roja have been drawn in Group B alongside Iran, Morocco and Portugal, and face their Iberian cousins in their opening game on June 15.
Julen Lopetegui didn’t have to name his final list until June 4, but has opted to do it now, with two weeks to spare, so as to concentrate on preparation.
Perhaps the biggest name not to make the plane is Álvaro Morata. The Chelsea striker has struggled for form and fitness this term, and will now stay at home with Iago Aspas and Diego Costa taking the centre forward places.
After an impressive season for Arsenal, Nacho Monreal made the squad alongside the big names: Sergio Ramos, Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba.
One defender who could count himself a little unlucky not to be named was Marcos Alonso, with Real Sociedad’s Álvaro Odriozola coming in.
There’s no room either for Hector Bellerín, Cesc Fàbregas or Sergi Roberto.
Having waved his goodbyes to Barcelona, Andrés Iniesta does however, make the squad for one last World Cup hurrah.
