Spain were back in action earlier today, locking horns with the Dominican Republic in the country’s 2nd outing at the Olympics.

When all was said and done, La Roja emerged on the right side of a 3-1 result, owing to goals on the part of all of Fermín López, Álex Baena, and Miguel Gutiérrez.

On an otherwise positive day’s work for Denia’s troops, however, one blow was also forthcoming, on the personnel front.

As much came upon the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí picking up a yellow card.

His 2nd of the competition, the 17-year-old will now be unavailable for Spain’s next outing, through suspension.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Saturday’s clash, Cubarsí’s manager therefore moved to defend the youngster, by way of highlighting his frustration with the two-yellow card suspension rule.

In quotes gathered by Diario Sport, Santi Denia explained:

“Before the tournament we had a talk with FIFA and we told them that the two cards thing is an aspect to improve, because in such a short tournament it is very complex.”
