Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has on Monday provided his take on the withdrawal of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal from his latest squad.
Wide-man Lamine was for his part of course forced to sit out on Sunday, as Barcelona slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad.
The Blaugrana have since released a statement, confirming that as much came with the 17-year-old having suffered ‘a grade 1 high right ankle sprain’.
The Camp Nou brass followed up on as much with a request to the RFEF, for Lamine to be relieved of his duties with Spain for the November international break.
This request was subsequently granted, with the subject of as much having in turn been put to the aforementioned Luis de la Fuente this afternoon.
And, in his response, the Spanish tactician went on to explain:
“Barcelona, like all clubs do, sent us the report with the relevant evidence and we thought it appropriate that he not travel , as it meant going through that process again here, which was no longer necessary.”
De la Fuente, in quotes sourced by Diario Sport, concluded:
“I hope he recovers as soon as possible.”
