Spain progressed to the EURO 2024 final with a thrilling come from behind 2-1 victory over France in Munich.

With Kylian Mbappé free of his troublesome mask, the French got off to a flier and their captain was at the heart of it.

In just the ninth minute, Mbappé whipped a brilliant cross into the Spanish box that was met by an equally good header from Randal Kolo Muani. It was the first goal from open play Les Bleus had scored in the tournament and handed them a dream start.

Spain soon settled but did not truly threaten. That was until their star boy, Lamine Yamal, decided to make EUROs history with arguably the goal of the tournament.

From a central position, he shifted inside and curled home a stunning left-footed shot into the top corner, giving Mike Maignan no chance.

The goal changed the momentum of the game and Spain completed their comeback less than four minutes later, Jules Koundé deflecting Dani Olmo’s shot into the net from close range after excellent from the RB Leizpig midfielder.

It made it three consecutive knockout games in which Olmo has scored, a feat achieved by no Spanish player before.

A thrilling second half was followed by a more cautious second half with France pressing the issue as they searched for an equaliser.

Kylian Mbappé had his side’s best chance but fired over from inside the box after weaving his way through, much to the shock of the Allianz Arena crowd.

Despite ringing the changes, Didier Deschamps’ side could not find an equaliser as Spain advanced to a record-equalling fifth European Championship final, where they will meet either England or the Netherlands.
