Southampton forward Adam Armstrong and keeper Gavin Bazunu made a deadline-day loan exit this winter. Strangely, the two have had quite contrasting starts as they kick off their life at new clubs.
It's been a week since the winter transfer window concluded. Though Southampton made some exciting signings, it is safe to admit they focussed on loan departures this winter.
Notably, one matchday has already finished for all the loanees. Now, tell me honestly, aren't you curious to see how they have performed at their new clubs? You are right?
So, primarily, here we look at forward Adam Armstrong and keeper Gavin Bazunu, who both had made a deadline day move.
Talking of Adam Armstrong, as was expected, the forward has restarted his Championship stint brilliantly. In his West Bromwich debut, Armstrong scored the go-ahead goal, influencing a win for the side.
If that wasn’t enough, the 28-year-old was one of the standout performers of the match.
In fact, though it's early, given Armstrong continues like this, he might fulfill Southampton's intentions exactly.
But, while Adam Armstrong had a perfect debut, things didn't go well for loanee Gavin Bazunu. In fact, it would make sense to say he had an unforgettable start to life at Standard Liege.
On his debut, Bazunu conceded 4 times as Standard Liege lost 3 crucial points to enter the qualification zone. Topping it off, Bazunu's disastrous performance came against 10th-ranked Westerlo, who has had a poor record against Standard Liege previously.
Certainly, this game has marked a blemish on Bazunu's form, who had been brilliant in U21's lately. That said, it may not be smart to predict how his loan will progress further.
We all have seen Bazunu's talent, haven't we? Having the potential to succeed Aaron Ramsdale at Southampton, the Irish keeper can change things around soon.
Hope this happens, otherwise, a summer permanent exit for Bazunu can be on the cards.
