Tottenham Hotspur is monitoring Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters as a priority free agent target.

One of the best January transfer stories has been Shea Charles' Sheffield Wednesday return. Charles was tipped to spend the rest of the season at Southampton, but the mutual willingness between the player and the Championship outfit made a dramatic transfer possible.

These moments depict that some players are truly irreplaceable in a roster, sometimes. In the current Premier League scenario, this is quite a rare occurrence.

Still, it's Southampton where even coincidences can become a normal sight. As it stands, there is another celebrated comeback in the making.

According to a recent report from TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspurs are plotting a heroic homecoming for Kyle Walker-Peters.

Currently, Walker-Peters' contract situation has created a standoff between the defender and the club. The Saints want to ink fresh terms with the 27-year-old but the latter stands determined to explore a new challenge after this season.

Up until now, that destination was touted to be Everton or Galatasaray. Fortunately for the left-back, his childhood club has made the decision making process rather easier for him.

On top of that, Tottenham are confident that Walker-Peters' won't think twice before accepting their proposal. To the point that the report mentioned that the Ange Postecoglou led team is only mulling over a free agent addition.

That's very bold of them to rule out submitting any early bids for him in January. Well, that's somewhat understandable given that the two clubs could headline another marquee transfer in the summer.

Yes, it's the renowned Tyler Dibling transfer race. If Tottenham ultimately receives the prized attacking asset from Southampton, that could be a statement of intent from them.

Particularly, because they have also been a shadow of themselves in the Premier League. Feels strange to say, but they are also currently bottom table like Southampton.

Still, the Saints are in a more fragile situation than anyone regarding relegation. Will that change soon, we will have to wait to find out.
