Manchester United will be looking to make it four wins in a row when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a terrific 4-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League whilst the hosts drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Trio Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones all remain out injured for head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer however Paul Pogba could be in line for a return to the squad despite missing the last two games with an ankle knock.

United’s biggest flaw so far this season has been inconsistency but victories in recent weeks against over Everton, West Brom and Istanbul Basaksehir has really lifted the mood at Old Trafford.

By no means have those victories put everything right nor does it hide the fact United have started the season poorly but those victories has really lifted spirits at the club and have raised hopes amongst the United faithful that a good second half of the season is on the way and in facing Southampton it presents United another fantastic opportunity to keep the momentum going.

Southampton have started the new season well under Ralph Hasenhuttl and United will have to be at their very best should they wish to beat them but despite the Saints impressive start to the campaign they have still found themselves vulnerable at the back and its that defence which Solskjaer will no doubt look to exploit on Sunday.

Despite the Saints impressive start to the campaign I put United as slight favourites going into this. There have been promising signs in recent weeks that United are starting to turn a corner and although I think it will be close I would still back United to leave St Mary’s with all three points.
