Southampton starlet Michael Obafemi insists he can outsprint Mbappé

Southampton winger Michael Obafemi insists he would be confident of out-sprinting Kylian Mbappé in a footrace.

Obafemi has enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Saints, but saw his progress halted by persistent hamstring injuries.

However, the 18-year-old still fancies himself against Mbappé, and is already targeting an Ireland place for their 2022 World Cup qualification.

“He’d be left behind, don’t worry about that,” Obafemi told the Irish Mirror.

“I ran 100 metres in 10.8 seconds about two years ago. I don’t know what I’d clock now but I’m very confident about getting in behind defenders.”
