On Friday, Southampton announced the signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Scott from Yeovil Town.
Scott has signed a one-year deal and will likely link up with the U-23s after Jack Rose left on a season-long loan to Walsall.
“It’s a great club to come to and I’m happy to be here and finally get settled in to get ready to go for the season.
“I think that’s what really sold it to me; the staff, everyone is polite, it’s always friendly and you’re learning every day. The facilities speak for themselves really so there’s nothing not to like.
“You only have to look at some of the players that have come through the Academy and gone on to the world stage internationally and at the biggest clubs in the world.
“You can see the young players here playing and they’re not only coming on but starting, especially in pre-season. That gives you a boost because you think ‘if they can do it, why can’t I?’
“I just want to become the best I can be, work and prove to the club and everyone around that I deserve to be here. I want to be here for as long as I can and make the most out of the training.”
Southampton also announced that forward Tyreke Johnson would spend the season on loan at National League South side Woking FC.
