Southampton's gaze for attacking reinforcements have led them towards Oliver Antman. The playmaker hasn't scored regularly but his assist tally is turning heads among the Saints.
When the Premier League season kicked-off last year, Southampton presented their candidacy with a wealth of prolific strikers. Though they weren't expected to mount a top ten challenge, their well-equipped frontline boasted the potential to leave their rivals in admiration.
Indeed, the acknowledgement has come but in an abruptly dull manner.
Now, that is appropriately justified given the fact that the club's topscorers haven't crossed the five-goal mark in the Premier League. Analysing these paltry figures, it's easier to assume that Southampton needs goalscorers above anything else.
On top of that, the Saints must get this attacking move right after watching almost every forward's decline in the past years.
Cutting straight to the chase, a tried and tested target profile should be an attack-minded player who is thriving in his present surroundings.
Now, considering a feasible transfer fee, Givemesport has suggested that Oliver Antwan could be a tailor-made solution for Southampton.
Don't be too excited just yet because Antman isn't a number nine. Plus, he has only managed to find the back of the net five times in the Netherlands top-flight.
Then why do Southampton need to present attractive offers to take him onto their books? Naturally, this question is bound to arise among every Saint but the answer is hidden in his praiseworthy assist stats.
Not only did Antman surpass double digits there but he also earned a reputation for leading the assist charts. And Antman amassed these accolades in his debut season at Go Ahead Eagles which conveys how much he can boost those numbers in a few year's time.
Though it's quite early to predict, Antman has everything that it takes to succeed at St. Mary's. Let's hope he does if he arrives.
