That's according to journalist Alan Nixon via Patreon this morning, in what is the latest twist in this ongoing battle for the highly-rated young winger.

Capturing the former England youth international's signature would be a significant boost to both Leeds and Hull, with both sides set to/already lost key wide players this summer.

Rak-Sakyi burst onto the scene in the EFL during the 2022/23 season, in which he scored 15 times and provided nine assists whilst out on loan with League One side Charlton Athletic.

Reporting via his Patreon account on Monday morning, Nixon has revealed that Southampton are readying an improved offer for Palace's young starlet, which is believed to be in the region of £12m.

The report states that the Saints are keen on the tricky winger, and are willing to stump up the cash in order to bring him to St Mary's on a permanent basis this summer.

However, in what will be a big confidence booster for Leeds and Hull, Nixon reports that Palace believe the 21-year-old is top player in the making, and as such would prefer to sanction a loan move for him rather than permanently cut ties.

Russell Martin's side are hoping the money they can offer will persuade the Eagles to change their minds though, but Nixon comments that it may require a significantly larger fee than £12m to prize Rak-Sakyi away from Selhurst Park.

The report concludes by confirming that the Whites and the Tigers are among a number of clubs that are vying for his signature, as they hope the allure of regular starting opportunities will be enough to convince him to make a move back to the EFL.

Both Yorkshire clubs are in need of help on the wings for next season, with Hull having already lost Jaden Philogene, leaving Tim Walter with highly youthful and inexperienced options on the wing.

Ryan Longman is only contracted at the MKM Stadium until next summer and spent last term at Millwall, whilst Jason Eyenga-Lokilo and Dogukan Sinik have both returned from underwhelming loan spells away from the club.

As for Leeds, they look likely to lose at least one of Crysencio Summerville and/or Wilfried Gnonto with Jack Harrison re-signing for Everton and Jaidon Anthony's loan from Bournemouth done.

Ian Poveda has also hit the free agent market this summer after the expiration of his contract at Elland Road.

Therefore, both sides appear to be in desperate need for an injection of talent on the wing, as Leeds look to add strength in depth to cover some potential big-name exits, whilst Hull look to find their Philogene replacement in the starting lineup.

The Tigers could then be seen as the best place for Rak-Sakyi to land in regards to the greatest chance to see regular minutes, but the allure of Leeds United and the potential for another big promotion push could be too difficult to turn down.

For now though, it remains to be seen whether £12m will be enough to tempt Crystal Palace into selling Rak-Sakyi.
