Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will see Saturday’s game against Everton at St Mary’s as a “must-win”, believes journalist Dean Jones.

The south coast club have had a mixed start to the season, losing their last two fixtures versus Aston Villa and Wolves.

Southampton sit in 14th after picking up some good and poor results so far this term.

While the Saints were able to beat Chelsea in an impressive victory at the end of August, as already mentioned, they have also lost to the likes of Villa and Wolves – teams around them.

It is why the visit of Everton is arguably an important fixture, with Frank Lampard’s men also near Southampton in the Premier League table.

They then take on Manchester City, a mammoth task, so Hasenhuttl will be desperate to earn some points before then.

Jones thinks Hasenhuttl will see Saturday’s match as a must-win.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “The game against Everton on the back of the international break looks a big one to me. He’ll see it as a must-win.”

Who are the match-winners in Southampton’s squad?

There is little doubt that Che Adams is one player who Hasenhuttl will be looking to when Southampton and Everton take to the pitch.

The 26-year-old striker, who was actually during the summer, has already scored a few goals for the Saints this season.

“He enjoys this position I think, alone up front, in the middle where he is always in the box and there he has his biggest strength,” Hasenhuttl said (via BT) last month after Adams’ two-goal display against Cambridge United in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

“Again it was a good message from him to show up here and show he can always be the guy who can score our goals.”

As well as Adams, Southampton can also turn to captain James Ward-Prowse, who is always a danger from dead-ball situations.

Last season, the England midfielder scored 10 goals in the top flight, with four of those coming from free-kicks.

All in all, Adams and Ward-Prowse are two players who are capable of making an impact on the pitch. And if they are able to do that against Everton on Saturday, then Hasenhuttl’s side could be in for a good result.
