Appointments made for Sunday’s final.

The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final with Southampton have been confirmed, with John Brooks set to take charge at Wembley.

The tie will round off what has been a busy season for the Leicestershire-born official, which has seen him referee 22 times in the Premier League.

As well as appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and both domestic cups, Brooks has also officiated in the Europa League group stage and Europa Conference League qualifiers.

The showpiece event will be the second final of Brooks’ season, with the Select Group 1 referee overseeing April's UEFA Youth League decider between Olympiacos and AC Milan.

Brooks’ solitary Championship outing this term came when the two teams did battle on the south coast earlier on in the campaign.

Leeds have won twice from their matches officiated by the referee, most recently beating Yorkshire rivals Barnsley in last season’s Carabao Cup Second Round.

Before September’s meeting of the two sides, Brooks last took charge of Southampton in their 2-1 victory away at Everton's Goodison Park in January 2023.

The final will also see the use of VAR under the Wembley arch, with Jarred Gillett overseeing proceedings from Stockley Park.

The Australian was in the middle for the Whites’ semi-final second leg at Elland Road, which saw Daniel Farke’s side emphatically beat Norwich City to reach the final two.
