Southampton have increased their bid to sign Stade Rennais winger Kamaldeen Sulemana (20), according to a report from L’Equipe. The Ghanaian International has one goal in 13 appearances this season after finding the net four times last year, and a lack of game time has led the winger to consider his future.
Southampton initially proposed a €17m offer to Stade Rennais. Now though, they’ve reportedly upped it to €20m. Talks are underway between the Premier League bottom-placed Saints and Les Rouge et Noir, who may be inclined to sell him this winter transfer window. Even though Rennes have a shortage of attacking options despite the loan of Lyon wantaway winger Karl Toko Ekambi (30). Loanee Loum Tchaouna (19) may be recalled from Dijon according to the outlet, if Sulemana were to be sold.
But considering Rennes bought the Ghanaian international in 2021 for a €15m fee from Nordsjaelland, the opportunity to get added value from his sale might prove too good to turn down for the fifth-placed Ligue 1 side. Rennes travel to Lorient tonight for Ligue 1 gameweek 20 and Sulemana is part of Bruno Génésio’s squad.
