Former Southampton hero Jack Cork names Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Charlie Taylor, and Adam Lallana as key for Premier League survival.
Southampton FC’s Premier League campaign has been nothing short of disappointing. With the team sitting at the bottom, the Saints can face potential relegation back to the Championship.
Furthermore, in an effort to turn things around, Ivan Juric has been ineffective to some extent. As it stands, it might be difficult for the Saints to retain their top-flight status for the next campaign.
However, amidst the growing uncertainties, former club hero Jack Cork has boosted the morale of the club fans. As quoted by the Daily Echo, he mentioned that with a couple of successive wins, they might turn things around in the second half this season.
Cork said: "If you get half a run together then you are out of it and the confidence is up. You are two or three weeks away from completely flipping your season and staying up."
Alongside, the Saints hero hinted at a key trio, who could be vital in their relegation battle.
Continuing, Cork mentioned, "Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Charlie Taylor, and Adam Lallana have got that attitude. Hopefully, Saints can grind it out and change their season around in the next couple of weeks."
Taylor Harwood-Bellis, the 22-year-old prodigy, has already cemented his place in the Saints backline. Having shown immense defensive potential, clearly, the youth star would be an important player for Ivan Juric's side.
But it isn't the same for Charlie Taylor. Having struggled for minutes under Russell Martin early this season, Taylor looks set to start afresh under Ivan Juric.
Finally, Adam Lallana's presence adds creativity and composure in the midfield, which the team has sorely lacked this season. As a seasoned campaigner and a veteran Saint, Lallana's never giving up attitude can prove crucial for Southampton.
