With Southampton pushing ever closer to promotion this season with Saturday's win over Swansea City, things are looking good for the South Coast side.

The Saints have impressed this season following relegation from the Premier League, and have been battling it out with Leeds United and Ipswich Town for a top-two finish this season.

Boasting one of the best attacks and tightest defences in the division, they have a fantastic chance of beating 22 other teams in securing promotion to the Premier League, with only Leicester City looking out-of-sight of the Saints.

In the meantime, though, they have been linked with a number of transfers this winter, both in and out, as they look to cement themselves near the top of the table for the rest of the Championship season.

Kyle Walker-Peters transfer warning

Speaking with the Daily Echo, the Saints boss warned that it would take a lot of money to prise the right-back away from St Mary's, noting that there has been "no conversation" between himself and the player in regard to a transfer.

"I spoke to Kyle and I also know his agent very well. Jason Wilcox speaks to agents a lot but I have worked with Kyle's before. There has been no conversation about him wanting to leave," he said.

"Everyone agrees he is in such a good place. We are playing in a way that he can express himself.

"I don't have a concern about that, it would take a lot of money to prise him away from here. I don't want to waste energy on it until someone comes and is willing to pay an amount we're happy with."

Walker-Peters has been one of the top performers at Southampton this season, being a big part of the reason why the club has one of the best attacks and best defences in the division so far.

He has been ever-present in the Saints side this season, playing in 28 games for his side, netting two goals and two assists in the process.

Manuel Benson transfer update

While it looks like Walker-Peters will be staying at Southampton this season, one man who doesn't look like he'll be at St Mary's is Manuel Benson.

The Burnley forward looked likely to join the Saints this month, with a fee reportedly agreed with Burnley for a loan deal until the end of the season. Southampton were also set to cover the wages for Benson during this period, something both clubs were said to agree to.

However, Football Insider have reported that the deal has stalled and the transfer could be dead, despite the agreements already in place.

They revealed that the two clubs agreed a £1 million loan fee for Saints to pay for the rest of the season. The deal seemingly being cancelled has let other clubs into the race to sign the talented winger this month.

Leeds United pushing to sign him as a potential replacement for Wilfred Gnonto if the forward moves to West Ham this month.

Che Adams likely to stay at Southampton

It appears Che Adams is likely to stay at Southampton this month, despite interest from Premier League clubs in the January transfer window.

Everton have been linked with a £6 million move for the Scottish international, but journalist Alex Crook has reported that Adams is likely to remain at the club despite the interest.

The striker has managed to contribute eight goals in the Championship this season in his bid to help the Saints return to the Premier League.

The Scotland international has been rumoured to be out the door at Southampton for some time, as Premier League sides such as Wolverhampton Wanderers were previously reported to be interested in signing Adams this month.

The striker is out of contract at the end of the season, half a decade after signing a five-year deal with the club following a £15 million move from Birmingham City.

Southampton's reluctance to sell the striker could mean they lose him on a free transfer in the summer, but it could be worth missing out on his transfer fee if Adams' goals can help fire them back into the Premier League this season.
