Southampton captain Ward-Prowse hails 'exciting' summer market | OneFootball

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse has hailed their summer market campaign as "exciting".

Saints have added four players to their first-team aged 20 and younger this summer, with new owners Sport Republic clearly placing their faith in youth.

Ward-Prowse said: “(It's) very exciting. The new owners have come in and definitely shown their willingness to spend money and bring in the right sort of players.

“Like I said, it's important for us to have the right players around them to help them settle into the team, because the Premier League is intense.

“It's a difficult league to play in. So we need to make sure they're in the right frame of mind and position to be able to play."

Joel Aribo arrives at St Mary's as the eldest new addition, at the age of 26.

Speaking about his fellow midfielder, Ward-Prowse stated: “He's a fantastic player, he's slotted in really well. I think what we like about him is his energy.

“He gets about the pitch very well, he's positive, he wants to drive at defences and get at them. He seems like a Southampton player, and I can't wait to see him playing in a Southampton shirt."
