Alisson Becker – 7.0

Could do nothing for the opening goal, given the deflection. The first half was pretty routine from there. Did everything correct through a nervy last few minutes.

OneFootball Videos

Joe Gomez – 6.5

So disappointing to see this young man injured, again. Was lively and unlucky for the goal. Was part of the equaliser.

Subbed – 45 mins

Kostas Tsimikas – 7.5

Gave good width, as Liverpool dominated the first half.His second half corner brought about Liverpools second goal, and the league’s best back up left back stood up well.

Ibrahima Konate – 7.5

Nice and steady, in a first half that apart from the goal was well controlled.

Joel Matip – 8.0

The senior defender, he controlled the line well through the first half, with the deflected effort being the only real issue for the defence. His goal to make it 1-2 came at exactly the right time, with a weird looping header off a Kostas corner.

Curtis Jones – 7.5

Was in and out, as the reds struggled to break down the low block throughout much of the first period. Had a really nice second half, with his ability to drive with the ball and always wanted possession.

Harvey Elliott – 6.0

Looked rusty, but the intent was there to see in the first half. Was neat if unproductive for the most part, as he slowly builds back up.

Subbed – 64 mins

James Milner – 7.0

Another position for the veteran. He was oddly creative from the deeper role, and did his best in a foreign position. Moved to right back after the break, as Gomez went off to injury. A commendable performance.

Taki Minamino – 7.0

A great finish to level from a goal behind. His ability to pop up with a goal has been a great asset this year. Was busy and productive in possession.

Roberto Firmino – 7.5

Constantly able to work his way into the game, and was able to bring his partners into the game. He dropped in and worked so well to help his midfield.

Subbed – 81 mins

Diogo Jota – 6.5

Created the opening goal, and should have scored early in the second. Worked hard, and looked more comfortable cutting in from the left, his preferred side.

Subs;

Jordan Henderson- 7.0 (on 45)

On for the injured Gomez, and into a familiar holding role. Defensively sound, if limited in possession.

Divock Origi – 6.5 (on 64)

The moment called for an extra striker, much to the delight of the fans.

Naby Keita – 6.0 (on 81)

Came on to give more balance and protection.

The Manager;

Jurgen Klopp – 8.0

So limited by an insane schedule. He literally picked those that were fit and able, and would have been happy with a level half time, given the opening set back. Resisted going too cavalier too early, and was clearly looking for control and an eventual breakthrough. Was really positive with his second change, as Origi was summoned to usher in a 4-2-4. The added pressure told, and Matip scored minutes later from a corner.

He managed the occasion well, and the subs were accurate to make sure certain players weren’t forced in.
