Bongani Zungu has played his last Rangers game if the club push ahead with plans to suspend the lockdown breachers for the rest of the season.
Football Insider revealed on Monday the Glasgow giants are planning to suspend the rule-breaking players for the rest of the season.
Manager Steven Gerrard named Zungu, 28, Nathan Patterson, 19, Dapo Mebude, 19, Brian Kinnear, 20 and Calvin Bassey, 21 as the five who broke Covid-19 rules and were issued with fixed-penalty tickets after a 10-person social gathering at a Glasgow flat.
The party quintet are now self-isolating and can then be expected to be hit with lengthy bans by the Scottish FA.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that club powerbrokers have discussed going even further and suspending the five players for the rest of the season.
That has not been finalised at this stage but the club want to send out a strong message it will not stand for actions that tarnish its image and reputation.
It would mean the end of Zungu’s Rangers career as he is on a season-long loan from French club Amiens.
He has played 15 times for the Light Blues but started only one league match so far.
Rangers have already been humiliated once already this season by Jordan Jones and George Edmundson, who were hit with seven-match bans in November before being loaned out in January.
Gerrard and the Rangers board are furious at the lockdown breach, and the senior pros have made it clear to the five how their conduct has let the club down.
Rangers fans on social media, including Football Insider‘s Facebook pages, have almost unanimously called for the club to get rid of the players this summer.
