Real Madrid have reportedly sealed the future signing of Franco Mastantuono, with the talented Argentine midfielder expected to join the club in January 2026, according to Real Madrid Confidencial.
At just 17 years old, Mastantuono has already made a name for himself at River Plate. Known for his versatility and maturity on the ball, he is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in world football.
Real Madrid have been tracking his progress for several months, and now the timeline for his arrival is clear.
Due to FIFA regulations, Mastantuono cannot make the switch to Spain until he turns 18, which rules out a move in the summer of 2025. As a result, both clubs have agreed on a January 2026 transfer.
Despite his River Plate contract running until the end of that year, the agreement with Real Madrid means Mastantuono is expected to leave the Argentine side earlier than planned.

This transfer comes at a crucial time for Real Madrid, who are looking to shape their next-generation midfield after Toni Kroos.
With Luka Modric also nearing the end of his career, the club has been actively building for the future. Mastantuono is seen as a long-term solution and a key player to lead the midfield in years to come.
Real Madrid’s strategy of investing in young South American talent has paid off in recent years with players like Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Endrick. Mastantuono appears to be the next in line to follow that path.
Unless there is a major change, the deal is as good as done. The only thing left is the wait. With patience and planning, Real Madrid have secured one of the brightest young players in football.
January 2026 could mark the start of a new era at the Bernabeu.
