Ibrox Noise sources can reveal that Premier League side West Ham United are monitoring Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin and could be preparing an offer in the region of £8M for the Belgian international.
We’ve been told the Hammers are tracking Raskin closely, with a view to strengthening their midfield options this summer. The 23-year-old has had a mixed time at Ibrox since arriving from Standard Liège last year, but his quality isn’t in doubt and English sides have been taking notice—particularly Graham Potte’s men.
While £8M isn’t eye-watering in Premier League terms, it would represent a solid profit for Rangers, having signed Raskin for around £1.3M. It’s understood West Ham see him as a viable long-term option in the engine room, with his tenacity, technical quality, and work rate appealing to their recruitment team.
We’re not suggesting this one is done or even that a bid has formally come in yet, but all the signs are that West Ham are seriously considering the move and could test Rangers’ resolve sooner rather than later.
It would be a blow to lose him, especially with Rangers’ ‘new’ manager likely building his squad around key assets, but we also know no player is unsellable—especially not for the right price. And £8M would be tempting for a player whose performances had been up and down at times till this season even if his potential remains clear.
The Belgian has had injury troubles and hasn’t always looked fully fit, but on his day he’s as good a midfielder as there is in Scotland. That kind of quality attracts attention, and West Ham clearly believe they can harness and develop it further.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers would entertain that sort of offer, or if it would take more to part with him. But this one could gather pace as the summer window gets closer, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on it.
