AEK Athens have agreed personal terms with Olivier Ntcham as he edges closer to a free transfer from Celtic, Football Insider understands.
The Greek outfit are in talks with the goalscoring midfielder over a permanent deal as he becomes a free agent.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Ntcham, 25, has agreed a long-term contract with AEK and is now putting the finishing touches to the deal.
It will see him head out of Parkhead for good after a loan move at Marseille in the second half of the 2020-21 season.
Football Insider revealed on 22nd May that Celtic have decided to terminate the contract of the Frenchman a year early.
The Scottish giants have exploited a contract loophole in the four-year contract Ntcham signed in November 2018.
The Hoops announced the deal runs until the summer of 2022 but Football Insider has learned that Celtic have triggered an option to terminate the last year and absolve themselves of the requirement to pay the player’s wages.
That has opened the door for AEK to land the former Man City man, signed for £4.5million in 2017, on a free transfer.
It will also continue the huge overhaul of the former nine-in-a-row side that began with Scott Brown’s move to Aberdeen.
He has made 147 appearances for the Hoops, which have yielded 24 goals and 13 assists from midfield.
In other news, Celtic have been told that 31-year-old will snub their long-term offer and sign for Rangers instead.
